Selin Yağmur Sönmez uses basic principles and elements of art, such as emptiness and fullness, movement and direction, part and whole, contrast, and color, in her works created through collage techniques. She establishes a conceptual space by balancing abstract forms and placing them within a visual atmosphere.
Her collage series titled “Indivisible Unity” consists of works where two elements—each with distinct colors, textures, and forms—come together to create a cohesive whole. The compositions in this series showcase the unity of both harmonious forms and contrasting parts. Sönmez emphasizes the creation of balanced forms by minimizing the number of elements used. The exhibition space features a dark green background, chosen to contrast with the simplicity of the forms and enhance the sense of space.
